Frequently asked questions
What will my assessment involve?
Your physio will assess your standing, walking, balance, physical strength, as well as looking at your home environment to help reduce your falls risk whilst moving around your home. If you would like they can also review your outdoor mobility.
Where will my falls assessment take place?
A fall assessment is undertaken at your own home. It is important that we look at all of your lifestyle and surroundings to fully assess your daily tasks in your home environment.
What other things may we look at to help prevent falls?
- Slight changes to your environment e.g. moving furniture, rugs, trip hazards.
- We may recommend a medication review by your GP, if one has not been done recently.
- We look at all of your mobility aids to check the appropriateness, heights and weight efficiencies to ensure they are suitable.
- We can also look at your mobility outside, to give recommendations whilst out and about in the community.
What do I need to wear?
Your physio will need to see the area that is in pain as well as things like posture and gait. Loose clothing, shorts, T-shirts. If you have any questions or concerns, please get in contact with us.
